Change of tenancy in a rental property

To let us know about a change in tenancy, please complete our online change of address form.

Who is responsible for letting GWMWater know about a change in occupant?

Under the Water Act, landlords and tenants have different responsibilities when tenancy changes.

  • If you are a landlord, you must let us know when a new tenant moves into the property.
  • If you are a tenant, you need to let us know when you move out.

Keeping us informed helps ensure accounts are set up correctly and avoids billing issues.

Change in ownership of a property

If you have bought or sold a property, your solicitor or conveyancer will usually notify us once settlement has been completed. If you are unsure, please check with your solicitor or conveyancer to make sure the notification has been provided.

 

Change of Direct Debit details

If you would like to update or cancel your Direct Debit, give us a call on 1300 659 961.

Please allow up to five working days for the change to take effect.

 

Change of name

If your name has changed, please provide an official document such as a marriage certificate, driver’s licence or passport.

You can do this in person at our Horsham office, or provide a copy by post or email.
