As the Graduate Engineer Dams and Structures at GWMWater you will assist in guiding the delivery of all aspects of dam safety management to ensure the Corporation’s compliance with the dam safety requirements.

As part of the Assets and Standards division, you will be responsible for determining capital works requirements to ensure ongoing compliance with agreed standards, developing and managing monitoring, surveillance and reporting programs and maintaining operation and maintenance manuals and emergency plans for the Corporation’s dams and related assets.

As a member of the dynamic Water Resources Division, the Senior Groundwater and Streams Team Leader plays an integral role in fulfilling GWMWater’s responsibilities as the manager of surface and groundwater resources across much of western Victoria. The incumbent will apply their expertise to ensure the region’s water resources are managed and accessed in a fair, equitable and sustainable manner.

The Senior Groundwater and Streams Team Leader will both undertake and oversee a range of surface water and groundwater licensing activities, and will also lead and contribute to water resource investigations, technical assessments and water resource management plans.

To excel in the role, the incumbent will have a natural ability to think flexibly and identify multiple solutions to problems, have a high level of attention to detail, and be driven to continually improve how we do things. Initiative, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and the confidence to interact with a broad range of people are also crucial in this role.

The incumbent will work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders in order to successfully fulfil the role.

The Senior Hydrology and Water Supply Systems Team Leader is a key role within the dynamic Water Resources Division, providing specialist hydrological expertise and oversight to enable the effective management of water resources within GWMWater’s area of responsibility.

The Senior Hydrology and Water Supply Systems Team Leader will lead planning, monitoring and operations across all bulk water supply systems, and in doing so, ensure GWMWater successfully fulfils its bulk entitlement and Storage Manager obligations.

To excel in the role, the incumbent will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and a natural desire to understand ‘how things work’. A high level of flexibility, initiative and attention to detail, coupled with the capacity to interpret and critically analyse information from different sources is crucial in this role. The ability to form and maintain strong and respectful working relationships with key stakeholders is also a key requirement.

The incumbent will work collaboratively across groups within GWMWater, and also with a range of diverse external stakeholders, in order to successfully fulfil the role.

Assessment

All applications are assessed by a selection panel. Each member of the selection panel compares the information from each applicant with the position description selection criteria, as well as against the other applicants.

 

Interview

If you're selected for interview, we'll invite you to meet us for a discussion about your skills and experiences in relation to the role.

At this point, we may also:

  • have a chat with your referees to get a better understanding of you as a person and your suitability for the role
  • ask you to undergo Psychometric Testing, simply as part of the selection process.

If we'd like to offer you a position:

  • We may ask that you take a medical examination, depending on the role. This is so we're sure that we won't be risking your health as part of your role.
