The latest seasonal allocations for May 2024 have been announced by the Storage Manager.

Modest rainfall totals were recorded across Grampians storages during April, with all storages (excluding Mt Cole) recording rainfall below their monthly average. Although some modest rainfall totals were received in early April, well below average rainfall over the previous months resulted in very dry catchment conditions, with no inflow recorded to storages. Year to date inflow remains at 52,190ML or 30% of historical average to April.

Allocation to Wimmera-Mallee Pipeline Product entitlements remained at 87%, the Glenelg River Compensation Flow and Wetlands entitlements remain at 49%, and the Recreation entitlement remains at 46%. No allocation has been made to the Commonwealth Environmental entitlement.

A revised system reserve rule came into effect in 2022/23, with 45,000 megalitres now in reserve. The revised rule shares the available water between entitlements and the system reserve as soon as allocations commence. Details of the new reserve rule are available from the Storage Management Rules page.
