Limited groundwater now available for licensing

A limited volume of groundwater is currently available for licensing within the Murrayville Groundwater Management Area (GMA) through an expression of interest (EOI) process. EOI applications are subject to groundwater availability, zone limits and approval requirements.

EOIs open Monday 5 October 2026 and close 2 pm Monday 7 December 2026.

How much groundwater is available?

There is currently 545 ML of groundwater available for licensing within the Murrayville GMA. The pool of water available may change as EOI applications are assessed and accepted.

Where is groundwater available?

Groundwater availability is subject to zone limits. Water is available in all zones except 10B-1.

How do I apply?

If you are interested in purchasing groundwater:

  1. Submit an Expression of Interest by filling in the form at the bottom of this page.

  2. GWMWater will assess your proposal.

  3. If successful, you will be invited to submit a licence application.

  4. Additional approvals may be required depending on your proposed use.

Things to consider

Depending on your project, you may need additional information or assessments, including:

  • Irrigation and drainage planning

  • Environmental assessments

  • Hydrogeological assessments

  • Cultural heritage requirements
