In response to media reports, GWMWater has confirmed its drinking water remains safe to drink and continues to meet the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines following recent trace detection of pesticide Benomyl in untreated raw water storage.

The detections were extremely low — measured at many hundreds to thousands of times below the Australian health guideline value.

Ongoing monitoring shows levels have reduced over time, with recent results in the relevant water supply systems now at or below laboratory detection limits.

• The Australian Drinking Water Guideline health limit for benomyl is 90 micrograms per litre.

• The highest detections found in the raw water (not drinking water) systems mentioned were between 0.03 and 0.09 micrograms per litre.

• For the past four years detections of Benomyl have been at or below the limit of detection.
