Current water restrictions

Permanent Water Saving Rules

Safe to drink?

Yes

The water is safe for drinking. It is filtered and disinfected to meet the strict guidelines for safe drinking water. It can be used for drinking, cooking, making ice, cleaning your teeth and for showering or bathing.

A fully treated drinking water supply has arrived!

We are pleased to provide Brim customers with safe and reliable drinking water following a change to the town’s water supply.

Supplying the town with water piped from the Warracknabeal Water Treatment Plant means residents will no longer need to rely on their rainwater tanks or packaged water for drinking and food preparation. The change in the supply arrangements has enabled us to warrant its suitability for drinking in accordance with the Victorian Safe Drinking Water Regulations.

We are planning a community celebration in the coming months and you will receive an invitation once we have confirmed the details.

Charges for water supply from 1 October 2019 will be the same as other drinking water towns serviced by GWMWater. You can view our 2019/20 tariffs and other charges here.

For further information please phone our Customer Call Centre on 1300 659 961.

Water supply

Your water is piped to you through the Wimmera Mallee Pipeline (Supply System 2) and treated at the Warracknabeal Water Treatment Plant before being piped to the township.

Your water comes from the Grampians Headworks Storages. The "headworks" is the area in and around the Grampians ranges and Wimmera River. It includes 11 reservoirs and diversion weirs and the streams and channels connecting them.

GWMWater maintains the infrastructure of the headworks, while the independent Storage Manager manages the water resources.
