Kaniva Groundwater – Safeguarding urban supply
Since the discovery of alleged illegal dumping of waste 15 kilometres south of Kaniva, GWMWater has been working closely with the Environment Protection Authority, local government and other relevant agencies to ensure the safety of Kaniva’s water supply. We have developed a fact sheet provides an overview of the supply system to address any community concerns.
Current water restrictions
Safe to drink?
The water is not safe for drinking. However, you can still use this water for household activities, such as watering gardens, flushing toilets, irrigation and laundry. You can also use it for showering or bathing, as long as you're careful to avoid swallowing the water.
