Permanent Water Saving Rules

Safe to drink?

No

The water is not safe for drinking. However, you can still use this water for household activities, such as watering gardens, flushing toilets, irrigation and laundry. You can also use it for showering or bathing, as long as you're careful to avoid swallowing the water.

Water supply

Your water comes from the West Wimmera Groundwater Management Area.  Extending from the western area of the Wimmera river, all the way to the South Australian border, and up north to the Big Desert, the West Wimmera GMA is an invaluable groundwater resource.

Construction of stage one is due to start in late 2019 and a further two stages are proposed. The sewerage scheme will also provide environmental benefits. Read more about this project.
